Jackson Projected and Actual Release
A Jackson County projected date is an expected endpoint based on the sentence and the time calculation available at that point. Mississippi’s official state term is tentative release date. The Mississippi Department of Corrections also calculates an Earned Release Supervision date and a maximum release date. Each label answers a different question. None, by itself, certifies the date and time a person actually left a facility.
The distinction is especially important in Jackson County. A person can disappear from the Adult Detention Center’s current roster because of community release or transfer. A state-sentence transfer means custody continues with MDOC. An ERS or parole event may later end prison confinement while supervision and state jurisdiction remain. Final discharge is another event.

Jackson County Sentence Type Matters
A person awaiting trial at Jackson County ADC may have no fixed release date. The current-only roster may show a bond amount or “bondable” field, but neither shows that payment was made or release was processed. Another case, warrant, detainer, or administrative step may continue custody. The court order can explain the legal basis, while the ADC release or transfer entry shows what staff processed and when.
For a county-sentenced person, request the judgment and the maintained jail time sheet or calculation. The ADC handbook says the legal-assistant function does not provide release dates or time sheets. Direct the question to ADC records and the correct court instead. For a state-sentenced person, MDOC Records handles offender time, jail credit, and eligibility dates.
Federal custody follows another path. A BOP date applies only after federal receipt and indexing, while a Jackson County federal prisoner may still be under U.S. Marshals authority. A county roster absence or an ICE locator absence is not proof of release. Identify the recorded destination first.
Note: “Transferred” must stay separate from “released to the community” whenever a Jackson County departure record or date is described.
Find Jackson County Projected Release Dates
The official MDOC homepage displayed an “Inmate Search” link during the Jackson County research review, but the destination was a form for reporting contraband or social-media activity. It was not an offender locator. A referenced search route also returned an error. Do not enter a person’s data into a form that asks about illegal phones, and do not treat that page as a “not found” result.
- Identify whether the Jackson County person is pretrial, serving a county sentence, serving a state sentence, or held under federal authority.
- Gather the full name, date of birth, booking number, MDOC number if known, sentencing county, judgment, and approximate dates.
- For Jackson County ADC custody, request the jail time sheet or release calculation from the proper records channel and obtain the court judgment.
- For state custody, ask MDOC Records for custody status, institution, jail credit, ERS date, tentative release date, maximum release date, parole status, and supervising office.
- Use the MDOC GovQA portal when formal copies are needed. Describe the existing record narrowly and ask for an estimate.
- Check the Board’s maintained record if parole may alter the custody path, then use VINE for a reported event rather than a sentence calculation.
- After the date passes, request the actual release, discharge, or transfer record from the last custodian.

Jackson Release Date Terms
For a Jackson County state sentence, MDOC’s types of supervision page uses three exact date concepts. An ERS date concerns Earned Release Supervision. A tentative release date is the state’s expected date based on its current calculation. A maximum release date is a separate limit in that record. Ask for all three when the distinction is unclear.
ERS is not automatic. MDOC describes legal eligibility, conduct and classification review, and an approved residence as relevant. A Jackson County person placed on ERS remains an MDOC offender under MDOC jurisdiction and can return for violations. MDOC also says time on ERS is not used to reduce the sentence. Thus, an ERS date should never be described as final discharge.

Jackson Earned Release Supervision Dates
For a Jackson County state record, Miss. Code §47-5-138 provides the Earned Release Supervision framework. MDOC gives an example in which an eligible offense committed on or after July 1, 1995 may require 85 percent in a facility and 15 percent on ERS. It also gives examples of exclusions, including life sentences, habitual-offender status, specified mandatory-time offenses, sex crimes, escape or attempt, and forfeiture by the commissioner.
Those examples do not calculate a date for a named Jackson County person. Current statutory text, the exact offense and date, sentence, classification, conduct, jail credit, and MDOC’s maintained computation all matter. Parole has a separate eligibility framework, principally under §47-7-3, and eligibility never guarantees approval by the State Parole Board.
A percentage calculator can omit facts that MDOC must apply. It may also confuse ERS with discharge. Ask MDOC Records for the actual time record and the basis for its fields. For a county sentence, ask ADC records and the sentencing court for the maintained calculation and judgment because no Jackson County good-time formula was verified.
Why Jackson Release Dates Change
A Jackson County tentative release date reflects the record as it stands. New facts or decisions can change the custody path. Some factors affect the calculation, while others affect whether departure can occur on the expected day. Ask the current custodian which factor appears in the named record rather than guessing from the calendar.

No special Jackson County weekend-release statute, set daily release time, county good-time policy, or holiday rule was verified. If a listed date falls on a weekend or holiday, call the current custodian and ask how the judgment and governing law apply to that case.
Which Jackson Release Date Counts
The Jackson County date question cannot be reduced to one countdown. The ERS date points to possible supervised release from physical confinement. The tentative release date reflects MDOC’s present expectation. The maximum release date is another endpoint in the state time record. Each can coexist in one case.
MDOC’s 85/15 example also comes with conditions: legal eligibility, conduct and classification, an approved residence, and continuing jurisdiction. It is not an automatic “out” date. A county detainee may have none of those three MDOC dates unless state sentencing and transfer have occurred. Match the date label to the custody system before relying on it.
This three-date distinction is the key Mississippi-specific answer to a Jackson County projected release question. Request the full maintained time calculation when only one field has been relayed secondhand.
A useful Jackson County MDOC Records request names each field separately: MDOC number, present custody status, institution or supervision office, actual release or discharge date and type, ERS date, tentative release date, maximum release date, jail credit, parole status, and the assigned field office. Ask for the record as maintained. If formal copies are needed, the GovQA request should use the same narrow terms. A response may not contain every item, and lawful redactions may apply. Still, this field-by-field request avoids treating one date as the whole sentence record and gives the custodian a clear existing record to locate.
Confirm Jackson County Actual Release
A future Jackson County release date should be followed by event verification. Pair the custody record with the court order when the reason matters. The Jackson County Circuit Clerk is the official fallback for records in its custody, while other case types may belong in County, Justice, or municipal court. A court order may explain why custody should change, but it may not show the exact time staff completed processing. Conversely, the jail or MDOC entry may record the event without the full judicial basis.
