Jackson County Release Meanings
A Jackson County release record describes the event that ended one booking at one facility. It does not always mean the person walked into the community. The Jackson County Adult Detention Center may record release on bond, a court order, dismissal, time served, completion of a county sentence, or another lawful basis. It may instead record transfer to the Mississippi Department of Corrections, another jail, federal authorities, or another agency. Escape and death are also departure events, but neither is a community release.
The distinction controls every later search. Jackson County released inmates who return to the community may have a county departure record and a related court order. A transfer to MDOC starts a state-custody trail. Parole or Earned Release Supervision ends prison confinement while MDOC jurisdiction continues. Federal Bureau of Prisons records apply only after federal receipt. The live county roster cannot explain those paths once the card disappears, so the exact release or transfer code and destination matter.
- Time served
- A court credits time already spent in custody toward the sentence.
- Transfer
- Custody moves to another agency; it is not community release.
- Parole
- The Board permits prison release under conditions and supervision.
- Discharge
- The corrections agency records the end of its jurisdiction.
Jackson County Release Paths
A person leaving Jackson County custody can move through several distinct channels. Bond can authorize departure, but another warrant or detainer may stop processing. A detainer is a request from another authority to hold or transfer the person. A court order may dispose of the case while jail staff still need time to complete checks. State and federal transfers remove the county roster card even though confinement continues elsewhere.
| Recorded path | Meaning | Best next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or court order | Release may proceed if no other hold applies | ADC departure entry and court case |
| Dismissal or time served | The legal basis for detention may end | Court disposition and ADC record |
| County sentence completed | Local confinement ends | Judgment, time sheet, release entry |
| MDOC transfer | State custody begins or continues | MDOC Records and VINE |
| Federal transfer | Another authority receives the person | ADC destination, USMS, or BOP |
| Parole or ERS | Prison confinement ends under supervision | MDOC Records and Parole Board |
The release sheet should be read beside the court or receiving-agency record when the outcome is unclear. That pairing prevents a transfer from being mistaken for freedom and shows whether supervision follows.
Jackson County Release Record Fields
The county has not published a blank release form or complete public field list. A narrow request should identify the existing booking and ask for the maintained booking/release sheet or jail-history entry “as maintained.” Not every record will contain each item. If an abbreviation or release code appears without a legend, ask the ADC for its existing definition.
| Requested field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Name and date of birth | Identity match and same-name protection |
| Booking number and date | The exact county custody episode |
| Admission and departure time | When the facility recorded entry and exit |
| Release or disposition code | The ADC’s maintained event label |
| Legal basis | Bond, order, time served, dismissal, expiration, or other ground |
| Destination or receiving agency | Community release versus transfer |
| Hold or detainer | Another authority’s claim, subject to redaction |
| Case and arresting agency | The right court and originating record |
A court docket may explain why a judge changed custody, yet it may not show the exact time ADC staff finished the process. The jail entry supplies that operational endpoint. For an MDOC sentence, the state record adds actual discharge type, parole status, tentative release date, maximum release date, and supervising office.
Request Jackson County Release Records
Mississippi’s Public Records Act, Miss. Code §§25-61-1 and following, provides the general access route. No dedicated current Sheriff web form was verified. Contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department or ADC and ask which Records Division channel is current. A named request is stronger than asking the office to compile everyone released during a period.
- Choose the custodian: ADC for a county booking, the clerk for a court order, MDOC for state custody, and BOP for federal records.
- Supply name, date of birth, booking or offender number, booking date, arresting agency, and case number when known.
- Name the existing booking/release sheet, jail-history entry, departure code, destination, and photograph.
- Ask for electronic copies, a cost estimate, and the legal basis for withheld or redacted material.
- Compare a transfer entry with the receiving agency and court case.

General: 228-769-3211, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
24-hour line: 228-769-3052
Sections 25-61-5 and 25-61-7 govern response procedure and actual-cost fees. A 2025 Ethics Commission order found that the Sheriff’s Department responded late in one matter and improperly demanded a nonrefundable deposit. Request a precise record and obtain a current estimate. Sealed, expunged, juvenile, exempt, or redacted material may not be fully available, but a roster card vanishing is not a retention rule.
Jackson Release Law Boundaries
The Public Records Act favors access to nonexempt maintained records, but it does not require an agency to answer research questions or create a report that does not exist. Ask for segregable, nonexempt portions if a record contains protected material. A custodian may withhold or redact content under a supported exemption involving juvenile, sealed, expunged, investigative, medical, personal, or security-sensitive information.
Miss. Code §47-5-138 concerns Earned Release Supervision, while §47-7-3 addresses parole eligibility. Neither turns a sentence percentage into a guaranteed personal release date.
Mississippi’s SAVIN law, §99-45-1, addresses notices for county and MDOC events that can include transfer, release, discharge, or escape. That notice is useful, but the underlying agency record remains the best proof. Expungement can change public access; it should not be described as deletion from every system or prior publication.
Jackson County Release Times
Jackson County publishes no verified daily release hour, exit point, weekend schedule, holiday schedule, or family waiting area. A predicted pickup time would be speculation. The reliable local step is to call the ADC 24-hour line about the named booking and ask whether processing is complete.
Staff may limit what they disclose by telephone. Ask for the exact event language and distinguish “release ordered” from “release completed.” If a transfer is recorded, request the receiving agency. Families should wait for facility direction before traveling because another hold, paperwork check, or transport can change the expected departure.
Note: No published Jackson County release schedule supports a promised hour, door, weekend rule, or pickup location.
Jackson County Bond Release Warning
The official Jackson County roster gives a clear fraud warning: the ADC accepts cash for bonds only at the facility, and the Sheriff will not call to solicit bond payment. A roster may show bondable status and an amount, but those fields do not prove that funds were received, every hold cleared, or the departure was processed.
Confirm instructions with the ADC through an official number. Then verify the actual release entry. A court’s bond order and the ADC’s final departure record answer different parts of the question, so one should not substitute for the other.
Jackson Release Funds and ID
The ADC inmate handbook says an account balance is released to the inmate or forwarded to the correctional facility receiving a transfer. That local rule makes the two departure paths concrete. Funds following a person to another institution do not show community release.
Mississippi offers a provisional driver’s license for certain people released from an MDOC facility or approved residential program. It lasts six months and has eligibility rules. Leaving the county ADC alone does not establish eligibility. The ordinary identification-card route remains separate. MDOC reentry resources address clothing, transport, medical needs, and food, but those are statewide prison-transition resources, not a verified ADC program.
Jackson Release Court Routing
Jackson County release records often need a matching court order, but one clerk does not control every case. Circuit Court handles felony matters and appeals. County Court has misdemeanor, preliminary-felony, and appeal functions. Justice Court deals with county misdemeanors, process, bail, and felony bind-over. A municipal charge may remain in city court.
Use the arresting agency and case number to select the court. The Circuit Clerk keeps the general docket and key filings within its authority. Mississippi Electronic Courts may help with some records, but online coverage for every Jackson County criminal case was not verified. Telephone or in-person clerk access is the firm fallback.
Does a court order prove release time? No. It proves the court’s action. The ADC record shows when staff recorded departure or transfer.
Jackson ADC Release History
The current ADC on Bruce Evans Drive opened as a new facility in 2015. Jackson County retains an official construction time-lapse. Contemporary reporting described construction-era size and capacity, but those figures are not current occupancy and should not be used as such.
Older Kenneth Avenue references may point to the former jail or the current probation and parole office. Confirm the agency and address before sending a request. ADC release records belong with the Sheriff’s Department at Bruce Evans Drive, while MDOC supervision questions follow the Kenneth Avenue office listed by the state.
Find Jackson County Released Inmates
A name missing from the current roster starts the inquiry; it does not finish it. Identify the last known custodian and track the specific booking. The search must account for county release, state transfer, federal movement, supervision, and data timing.
- Gather the name, birth date, booking or offender number, arresting agency, and approximate dates.
- Check the roster only for a currently reported ADC booking.
- Call the ADC and ask whether the booking ended by community release or transfer.
- Search MS SAVIN/VINELink and read the reporting agency and exact event.
- Match the court disposition, then contact MDOC Records if state custody followed.
- Use BOP or USMS for federal custody and ICE only for a documented immigration path.
- Request the named booking/release record for durable proof.
The Jackson County lookup is current-only. A vanished card cannot distinguish release, transfer, a sealed record, timing, or system failure.
The Jackson County 24-hour release page explains the same-day fallback when no official feed exists. For a named person, this full record sequence is stronger.
Jackson MDOC Release Record Search
The MDOC homepage displayed an “Inmate Search” link on the research date, but its destination was a form for reporting contraband or social-media activity. It was not an offender locator. Another referenced search route returned an error. No live result was available to verify public release fields.
The captured misdirected MDOC destination shows why the link must be inspected before personal data are entered.

This interface asks for report information, so it cannot answer whether a Jackson County person was released or discharged.
Use MDOC Records instead. Request the MDOC number, current status, institution, actual release or discharge date and type, ERS date, tentative release date, maximum release date, jail credit, parole status, and supervising office. Formal copies go through the MDOC GovQA portal.
| Field | Reason |
|---|---|
| Name, DOB, MDOC number | Match the state record |
| Status and institution | Separate prison from supervision |
| Actual release/discharge | Confirm what occurred |
| ERS, tentative, maximum dates | Preserve three distinct calculations |
| Parole and office | Find the supervision channel |
Jackson County Recent Release Limits
Jackson County publishes no verified 24-hour or 72-hour release feed. Its lookup has text search and sorting by booking recency or name. Cards include name, booking number, booking date, and photo or placeholder. Charge and bond details are also described by the Sheriff. None is a release field.
The current-inmate page makes the scope visible.

The page can show a currently reported booking, but it has no release date, release type, destination, cadence, or published retention period. Sorting by “Least Recent” does not create a release archive.
Jackson Post-Release Supervision
Probation is a court-ordered sentence served under conditions in the community. Parole is release from prison allowed by the Mississippi State Parole Board under supervision. ERS is another MDOC status that ends facility confinement while state jurisdiction continues. None is final discharge.
Jackson Probation & Parole Office is the local routing contact for a known supervisee. It is not a public database. MDOC Records holds formal state status and time information, while the Board holds its maintained decisions. No official public county absconder list, parole calendar, or searchable decision database was verified.
Jackson Release Alerts and Transfers
MS SAVIN uses VINELink for county and state custody events. Search one person, match the agency and identifiers, and read whether the event says release, transfer, return, escape, or another change. The Registration Link can follow a registration from county reporting into MDOC or other custody. Multiple alerts may reflect multiple file changes, so an alert is not a certified historic release sheet.
BOP’s locator covers federal records from 1982 forward and may show “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody.” That means BOP no longer holds the person, not that all custody or supervision ended. USMS may control a federal prisoner before BOP intake. ICE’s locator is for current detention and is not a release archive. An absent result in one system is not universal proof.
Jackson Release Systems Compared
Each official source answers a narrow question. Use the source tied to the last custodian, then reconcile a transfer with the receiving system.
| Source | What it proves | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| ADC roster | Currently reported county booking | Cannot explain an absent card |
| ADC release record | End event for one booking | Not later custody elsewhere |
| Court order | The court’s action | Not exact ADC processing time |
| MDOC Records | State custody, dates, or discharge | Not unrelated county or federal events |
| VINE event | A feeder’s status change | Not a complete historic calculation |
| BOP or ICE | That federal system’s result | Not every jurisdiction |
What if systems conflict? Start with the named release entry from the last custodian, identify the receiving authority, and account for different update times.
Jackson Release Facility Paths
The Jackson County Adult Detention Center is the primary county jail. Community releases are confirmed through ADC records, VINE, and the court. A transfer to MDOC keeps the person in state custody. Jackson Probation & Parole Office supervises some people after state release but holds no public roster. State institutions use MDOC Records. BOP institutions use the federal locator.
- Jackson County Adult Detention Center: county booking, release, and transfer records.
- Jackson Probation & Parole Office: supervision routing, not detention.
- Mississippi Department of Corrections: state confinement, ERS, parole, and discharge.
- Federal Bureau of Prisons: federal custody and BOP-specific release results.
Jackson Release Search Gaps
Two system limits shape the search. The county publishes only current inmates, and MDOC’s advertised search was misdirected on the research date. Neither blank result supports a release conclusion. These are core reasons to use named records, VINE continuity, courts, and agency calls rather than treating online absence as proof.
Retest official links because interfaces change. If the MDOC locator is repaired, verify that it asks for offender identifiers and displays an official result. Until then, MDOC Records remains the confirmed state route. For county records, request the maintained booking/release entry instead of asking staff to create a rolling list.
Jackson County Release Reentry
MDOC’s statewide reentry material identifies clothing, transportation, food, medical care, and identity documents as needs that can arise when a person returns from state custody. That source applies to MDOC transition planning. It does not establish that the Jackson County Adult Detention Center runs a matching local reentry office or provides the same support after every Jackson County release.
Start with the person’s last custodian and recorded destination. A Jackson County transfer to MDOC calls for state reentry contacts when the later prison release approaches. A direct Jackson County ADC community release calls for the jail, court, supervision record, and service provider that the releasing agency actually identifies. Jackson County service routing remains county-specific. Keeping those paths separate prevents a statewide prison program from being promised to someone whose Jackson County booking ended through a different route.
